Who We Are

Lazy Days Midnight Lightening, aka Leo

May 10, 2002, Black pinto gelding (AMHA/AMHR), 27" tall-Retired.
Sire-Bergs Little Thunderheart Dam-Lazy CS Midnight Fantasy

Greetings my humans! As previously stated, my...um, ahum, handler Tara notes my size to be a very stately 27" at the top of my shoulder. And to all the pretty fillies out there, yes, I am quite the charmer. Now, I must agree with my humans, I love children and I was very elated that my Mom discovered my true joy. I spent many years strutting around in the showring, but I found nothing more fun than lacing up my tennis shoes and traveling to different events. My favorite thing was having those kids run their little hands across my back. Hey even a horse enjoys back rubs. I have been fighting health issues since 2017.  My mama and several veterinarians have tried tons of nasty tasting things and all sorts of tests, even surgery, to help me feel better. I was diagnosed with IBD and an undetermined severe liver disease that they did not think I would survive. Well, surprise! They underestimated my will to fight. With the love of my family, I battle on. Except for the occasional road trip to the beach or vacation, I am living the good retired life. Doing as I please. Life is good. I am very honored to announce that in 2019 I was inducted into the Equus Foundation Horse Stars Hall Of Fame. Please click the link below to view my special virtual Hall of Fame page.

Golden Meadow Heirs Dream Girl, aka Lola

March 23, 2007, Palomino pinto mare (AMHA/AMHR), 32.5" tall.
Sire-Southridge Destinys Certain Heir Dam-Bond U Dreamer Morning Sky

Howdy! My name is Lola and I am a true Southern Belle. Born 2007 in Louisiana, I'm the Queen of the herd! Blonde and beautiful, I am actually a pinto palomino, but do like to change my coat colors up a bit throughout the year. A girl has to keep in style for the seasons. I love walks, gentle Carolina breezes through my mane, and sharing back rubs with Leo. Taz is my best buddy and we often go on visits together. Although I have given the show ring a try, I much prefer helping people. I know how to pull a cart, jump, navigate through a trail class, practice patience in costume and LOVE liberty. I go to every visit happily looking forward to sharing my loving and kind demeanor with my new friends. I would stand there all day and let them love on me. I have a real gift for recognizing when people need me the most and feel truly blessed to share time with them. Thanks y'all for trottin through our site and I hope to meet you soon.

Azariah's Z Royal Debut, aka Taz

May 11, 2007, Smoky black gelding (AMHA/AMHR), 32" tall.
Sire-Little Kings Buck Zeus Dam-WF Huskers Afterglow

Hi! May name is Taz, also known to the Fam and Frenz as Tazie Moto! They call my color a smokey silver black. Pretty appropriate since I was born in Pennsylvania, home of Hershey’s Chocolate. I kinda resemble a dark chocolate candy bar with the silver wrapper shredded into my coat. But my favoritist sweet is SKITTLES. I LOVE those things. My Mama Tara has trained me to pull a cart which I kind of enjoy. I have also spent time in the ring in halter, jumping (I can fly), liberty, costume and have won all sorts of ribbons and stuff. But nothing is more rewarding then meeting new people of all ages. I have a great time interacting with kids and adults of all ages. My happy go lucky personality is quite apparent. What can I say, I love everything and want to check it all out. In the summer of 2017 I developed a really bad tummy ache that required surgery and several months to feel better. But thankfully I am happy, healthy and ready to take on many more adventures. Bring them on!

Aupollo's Midnight Marquee, aka Kiwi

April 7, 2014, Chestnut gelding (AMHA/AMHR), 25" tall.
Sire-Lazy Days Midnight Lightening Dam-Diamond S Jade Marquise

Hi everybody! My name is Kiwi. I sure am happy to be here! I was born at 10:30 p.m. on April 7th, 2014. It was a pretty rough road for me and my Mama Ruby, for the first 3 months. But we pulled through our health challenges.  I was born to do therapy work because I have been down the road to recovery myself. I have grown a bunch since my birth when I measured 17” tall. They say I'm a pistol, a real character. Heck, I'm just being me. I have never met a ball I didn't want to play with and can turn anything into a toy. I can smile, shake my head yes and spanish walk. In my few years in this work I have already been to Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC. I was awarded an honorary diploma from the University of Chapel Hill's Life and Sciences Library for Library Shenanigans. I love to help the students deal with stress during finals. I am looking forward to our adventures in the future. There is a big world out there with lots of grown ups and kids I want to make smile. Watch for me in Jacques Belliveau's feature film Reggie, and follow the movie's social sites under our events/film/media link above.  Inducted into the Equus Horse Stars Hall of Fame in 2022.

Stars Graham Crackers, aka Peaches

May 7, 2015, Sorrel mare (AMHA/AMHR), 30.75" tall.
Sire-Nirvanas Black Night Dam-Stars Give You My Heart

My name is Peaches and I am quite charmed to make you aquaintance. I joined the Stampede of Love team all the way from Texas in 2017. They had an opening in their program for a new therapy horse and I am sure glad they found me. I will be quite honest, most of the first year in my new home has been full of first time experiences that made me a little nervous. But with Kiwi at my side, I have discovered how fun my career can be. Being a sweet little lady comes naturally to me. I look up to my mentor Lola and hope to be just like her one day. Although, my mama thinks I am already there. I do have a slightly mischievous side, but what do you expect? I am still a baby and love to play. Not to mention, I have to be a little bit rotten when living with those wild child brothers of mine, Taz and Kiwi. I have been to a few shows and don't mind them. But our other adventures are far more rewarding. I cannot wait to see what is next! Let's party.

Founders, Tara & Mary Needham

Tara-Howdy, Let me start off my telling you that I have two fulltime jobs. One that pays the bills and one that fills my heart with happiness. Since those bills simply must get paid, I have a very challenging job working for the State. Now be nice and have mercy on those poor employees. It's a truly tough job, but Thankfully my fun co-workers help relieve some of the stress. Being a State employee is just my day job. My real job is an average, everyday, run of the mill, devoted, true blue...horse lover. I've adored these glorious creatures all my life and can't think of a whole lot I'd rather be doing than riding, photographing, exhibiting and sharing them with everyone.

Mary-Hi! I'm the Mama and Grammy Mama. I'm retired and love being able to look out my kitchen window and see these beautiful animals in the yard. They are such characters. Some of my jobs include but are not limited to, taking photos at events, making the costumes, and neck bling collars. They bring so much joy into our lives and others. Welcome to our world.

In Loving Memory

Aupollo, March 27, 2000-June 27, 2013

"Remember me always, but do not grieve for me too long. I have tried always to comfort you in times of sorrow, and have made every effort to add joy to your life. I never wanted to cause you pain.
Peace for me is certain now, and I suspect I will have eternal sleep in the Earth I have loved so well.
Please, after your period of grieving for me, make room in your heart for another. You are the kind of human being that should always have a friend like me to love. Your kind and gentle heart should not be wasted on my memory too long. Give your love to another. I know your new friend will never take my place, because we had something very special.
It may not be quite the same, but a new devoted and loving companion will in time, become special in their own way.
You loved me very much and I loved you. My spirit will always be with you, and no matter how deep my sleep, my grateful heart will always remember you."

Don't cry for the horses, That life has set free
A million white horses, Forever to be
Don't cry for the horses, Now in God's hands
As they dance and they prance, To a heavenly band
They were ours to borrow, But never to keep
As they close their eyes, Forever to sleep
Spirits unbound, On silver wings they fly
A million white horses, Against the blue sky
Look up into heaven, You'll see them above
The horses we lost, The horses we loved
Manes and tails flowing, They gallop through time
They were never yours, They were never mine
Don't cry for the horses, They will be back someday
When our time comes, They will show us the way
Do you hear that soft nicker, Close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses. Love the ones that are here.
